Junction Hotel Newport

We went here for our niece's 30th birthday on Friday night, about 20 of us so we were seated outside under cover, would be nice on a warm day but it was cold. Parking is limited and its situated on a one way street, proving parking to be challenging. The pub as a great pub feel about it, the menu is small, 5 mains to choose from, typical pub grub, with parmas, steak, pie but we didn't fancy any of that so we chose 4 starters to share, sour dough bread 4 slices with goats cheese, olives, lamb skewer 1 per serve and a bowl of chips, between 2 of us we had 5 drinks, 3 wines & 2 beers, this was over $100, we thought it was pricey for what you got but lets face it, the prices of everything are increasing. Food was ok, but nothing outstanding that would make us want to go back.

They are knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to offer recommendations based on personal preferences. When it comes to drinks, the Junction Hotel does not disappoint. The bar offers an impressive selection of both classic and innovative cocktails, along with a variety of beers and wines. The bartenders are skilled and passionate about their craft, ensuring that each drink is expertly crafted and presented. Moving on to the food, while the overall quality is commendable, the chicken Parma falls slightly short of the high standard set by the other dishes. The flavors are pleasant, but the dish lacks that extra touch of excellence that would make it truly exceptional. That said, the menu offers a range of other delicious options. Whether you're seeking a vibrant night out with friends or a relaxed evening with a loved one, the Junction Hotel is a solid choice.

We are locals. I booked a table for 5 (including two young kids) on the outdoor deck for a Friday night dinner. Upon arrival, they instead seated us at a table in the courtyard. Unfortunately, our table (#78) was merely meters from the smoking area. The door to the smoking area remained open the entire time, and we sat through dinner with cigarette smoke wafting all over us, our kids, and the food. Our kids despise the smell of cigarette smoke so complained the entire time, and are also aware of the detrimental impacts of smoke on their health. My husband ended up having to walk them away from the table, and left me and another adult dining alone - so much for a family dinner! Staff came out regularly, delivering our food and drinks to the table which we had ordered from the QR code, yet not once did anyone proactively do anything about the smoke or smoking area. The neighboring table was less than the 4 metres required from the smoking area, which would be a contravention of the Tobacco Act given the open gate to the smoking area. I raised this significant issue with the manager when I was leaving, and she promptly put the onus on me to have had said something! A wasted and unenjoyable night out filled with cigarette smoke. I was organized and booked a table on the deck away from any smokers, yet my booking was not honored. It’ll take a lot for me to come back to this venue as it felt like there was little care over the impact of cigarette smoke on customers and children.

We were looking for pub grub on a Thursday night and decided to give the Junction Hotel a go. The service was fantastic they found us a cosy table without pre-booking. My wife reckons it was the "best Parma she had ever had" and the Prawn and clam Chilli linguine was great. Would highly recommend. Fried brussel sprouts with Feta and walnuts... Wow....

Great location, family vibe in the main bar area and has a lovely outdoor section with access to a private function room. We booked the wine room for dinner on a Saturday night. Dark decor made it impossible to read the menu, needed our phones for light. Extensive drinks menu, pub dining menu with a few of the favourites. We had the roast special and lobster risotto. Good flavours, nothing over the top. Staff were friendly and attentive, even when it got busy. Became very noisy as tables filled up. Recommend sound baffle and some lighting to read a menu.
